Visits 探访
2022 Summer Chapter
HK's unaffordable real-estate market has forced thousands of residents into tiny, inadequate subdivided units. We conducted interviews to better understand the causes and implications of inadequate housing and search for ways that we could be helpful.
We interviewed 2 government officials from Ma Tau Wai and North Point, the President of HK Youth Association, Members of the Legislative Council, a HKU Urban Planning Professor, and 10 families living in subdivided flats. We recorded and transcribed the interviews. Reading Seedling has begun providing free tutoring sessions for tenants' children.
In the time of crisis, the marginalized community is the most vulnerable, but always forgotten by the government.
We arrived to research living conditions, but left with an unshakeable sense of economic hardships.
